Signature Chefs Auction to Bring Greater Hartford’s Top Restaurants Together for Stronger, Healthier Babies

On Thursday, October 17th, area residents are invited to take a culinary excursion featuring Greater Hartford’s finest restaurants, all for a great cause – stronger, healthier babies.  Top area chefs will come together for the 75th Anniversary Signature Chefs Auction Gala, an incredible evening to benefit the March of Dimes at The Riverview in Simsbury.

While tasting the delights of such local chefs from Barcelona Wine Bar, Craftsteak at Foxwoods, Rizzuto’s Restaurant and Bar, Salute, and many more, guests will bid on a unique assortment of live and silent auction packages including experiences with the chefs, entertainment and travel, and contribute to the very special Fund the Mission campaign.

“We are thrilled to have the talents of many local chefs joining us in support of our mission to helps moms have full-term pregnancies and healthy babies,” said Janet Leishman, Signature Chefs Auction chair.  “Their signature creations are sure to delight the crowd.”

Funds raised support lifesaving research and educational programs throughout Connecticut, such as CenteringPregnancy® (group model of prenatal care); gestational diabetes education; Healthy Babies Are Worth the Wait® (an education campaign to encourage women, if their pregnancy is healthy, to wait until at least 39 weeks to deliver); and NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) Family Support.

Premature birth is the most serious infant health problem in the United States today. It affects nearly half a million babies nationwide each year, including 1 in 10 babies in Connecticut. Babies born too soon are more likely to die or have lifelong disabilities. The March of Dimes is committed to reversing this trend by funding research to find the causes of premature birth and developing strategies to prevent it.

Signature Chefs Auction tickets and tables are on sale for $175 per person or $1,750 for a table of 10, and is proudly sponsored by Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, Dominion Resources, Applied Proactive Technologies, and Stifel Marcin Advertising, Marketing and Design.  To reserve your seat or to make a donation, visit marchofdimes.com/ct

The March of Dimes celebrates its 75th anniversary this year and its ongoing work to help all babies get a healthy start in life.  More than 4 million babies were born in the United States last year, and the March of Dimes has helped each and every one through research, education, vaccines, and breakthroughs.
