Valassis Direct Mail Donates to MLKinCT Memorial Project

Simsbury will be home to a permanent memorial of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the impact that the two summers he spent as a young migrant worker on a tobacco farm here in Simsbury had on him and on his call to ministry.

Almost three years ago, two dozen Simsbury High School students researched, scripted, and produced a video documentary of the two summers that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. spent here in Simsbury. Now the students are working to raise $100,000 dollars to create a permanent memorial in Simsbury of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The project has received a generous donation from Cigna in the amount of $20,000 and one from Chubb Specialty Insurance for $10,000, along with many other donations from residents, local and state businesses, and nonprofit organizations since. Recently, Valassis Direct Mail, Inc. made a $1,500 donation to the project. The students and advisers of the MLKinCT Memorial Project want to thank Valassis Direct Mail, Inc. for their generous support.

Please visit MLKinCT.com for more information, to make a donation, or to purchase a personalized tax deductible, engraved brick.
