Obituary: Judith Ann Messenger, 71, of Simsbury

Judith Ann Messenger, 71, of Simsbury, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, after a long illness. She was born June 6, 1942, in Hartford, and had been a lifelong resident of Simsbury.

Judy was predeceased by her husband, Donald Messenger of New Smyrna Beach, Fla. She leaves her son, Jamie Messenger of Barkhamsted, and his wife Debbie; her two daughters, Deanna Messenger of Naples, Fla., and Cheryl Ainsworth of Spring Hill, Fla., her husband, Mike; and their three children, Matthew, Peter and Samantha.

Judy is also survived by her brother, Marc Horniatko of Simsbury, and his wife Shelly; her nephew Marc Horniatko of Simsbury and his wife, Sarah and their children, Kaylaa, Emma and James, nephew David Horniatko and Chelsea of Simsbury; and niece Kelly Soukup of Sturbridge, Mass., and her husband, Kurt.

Judy also leaves many other cousins, nieces and nephews, and longtime close friends. Her family and friends wish to thank the staff at UCONN Medical Cancer Center and the staff at the Avon Health Care Center for their caring, compassion and support during her long illness.

The family also wishes to thank her many neighborhood friends that have been there, helped and understood her situation during these last difficult months.
