Letter to the Editor: Thank You Simsbury Community

Simsbury family offers a heartfelt 'Thank You' for support during son's struggle with tumor.

Thank You Simsbury Community,

Over five and a half years ago we moved to the Simsbury Community. We initially picked Simsbury due to its great schools, its nice location, its numerous sports programs, and its pretty neighborhoods. We now realize we were pulled to this community for a variety of other reasons.

From our first day in town, we felt welcomed and part of a tight knit community. This was never more evident than the last couple of weeks during our son's struggle with a diagnosed brain tumor. The outpouring of support, prayers, cards, e-mails, and offers of help were overwhelming.

It was because of our friends, his classmates, his teammates, his coaches, and his teachers that we were able to get through these difficult times. When we were emotionally down or worried; a kind e-mail, a reassuring hug, or a call from a friendly voice pushed us to take the next steps forward.  We will never be able to repay the numerous acts of kindness, but we will never forget them!

I am sure we will forget to tell everyone face-to-face of how appreciative we are of their support, but we did want to take the time to acknowledge the efforts of the people around us. From the deepest parts of our hearts, we say thank you to the Simsbury Community and we wish everyone a happy and prosperous future.

We had a saying during the last couple of weeks, "One step backwards and two steps forward.  Stay Strong."  This is exactly what we have done with the support of all of you.

We will always be grateful,

Eric, Jenny, JB, and Nick Hayes
