Top Heavy Town Departments -- Taking Too Much of Simsbury Tax Dollars

I noticed that when the town hired a new library director, they agreed to pay her a salary of almost 100K to START. That seems high to me, especially considering she didn't necessarily have the years of experience one might expect of someone commanding such a salary.  And as far as I know, there are numerous other well-paid librarians working at the Simsbury library. Now the director wants to hire yet another full time librarian, supposedly to increase services to our Simsbury teens. My children have very busy schedules that don't provide them with "hang-out" at the library time. When they go to the library, they're usually doing some research or a project. I think any of the librarians already working there can help them with that. Our citizens are already paying for our excellent schools-- and guess what? They have school libraries. I don't think we have any teens in town that go to the library on a full-time basis, so why should we spend our tax dollars on a full-time staff member to help them? That seems like a waste of our money. The new library director hasn't been here very long. I think we should encourage no increase in staffing until the director has earned her salary by making things work well using existing staff. The library already appears too top-heavy. The library even has a staff member dedicated to our business people.
