East Granby Woman Killed, Simsbury Woman Injured in Southwick Crash

Haley Tierney, 22, was a passenger in vehicle that crashed Monday morning.

 

A young East Granby woman was killed in a Southwick, Mass. car crash early Monday morning, police in that town said.

Haley Tierney was a passenger in a car that veered off of Granville Road, down an embankment and into some trees around approximately 1:30 a.m. Monday, Southwick Lt. David Ricardi said.

The operator of the car, Jillian Rolland, 21, of Southwick and a passenger Jayme Barry, 21, of Simsbury, were also injured and transported to Bay State Medical Center. Rolland is in fair condition and Barry was released, a hospital spokeswoman said early Tuesday afternoon. 

Tierney was a 2009 graduate of East Granby High School.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation, Ricardi said. 

East Granby First Selectman James M. Hayden said he did not know Tierney but sent his condolences to the family.

"It certainly is a sad moment for East Granby," Hayden said.
