Farmington Valley Resident Dies Following Overnight Crash in Avon

Police are still investigating the Huckleberry Hill Road motor vehicle accident.

A 24-year-old Canton man died in an area hospital after a one-car crash on Huckleberry Hill Road in Avon overnight on Thursday. 

Michael Macbeth was the only occupant in the car during the 2:03 a.m. crash early Thursday morning, police said in a press release. Police have not released further information on the circumstances of of the collision. 

Macbeth was a 2007 graduate of Canton High School, friends said. 

"He really was the most sincere kid you'd ever meet," Jordan Ahlstrom told Canton Patch. "He was loved by everyone. He's definitely going to be missed."  

Macbeth was transported to an area hospital, but "succumbed to fatal injuries" there, police said.

Multiple Avon residents told Patch that they saw people gathering around a tree on Huckleberry Hill Road during the day Thursday and that a yellow ribbon was tied to the tree as a memorial.

Police have not released further information, but more information will be provided as it becomes available.

Avon police confirmed Thursday late afternoon that there was a fatal accident in Avon overnight. 

Police are in the process of preparing a statement with more information. Patch will provide updates as they become available.
