Loose Dog Spotted in West Simsbury on Saturday

On Dec. 2, 2013 the Simsbury Police Department informed the public about an aggressive dog that escaped from a kennel on Rescue Lane in Bloomfield.  The dog is a very large, black and tan Rottweiler with a long tail.  It was reported to be aggressive to humans and animals.    

This dog was seen several times in West Simsbury on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013.  The dog did not display any aggressive signs and had several non-aggressive, but distant interactions with people and other dogs.  Animal Control Officer Mark Rudewicz had a non-aggressive distant interaction with the dog on Saturday while attempting to apprehend it. The dog ran from people and other dogs and was last seen in the area of Tollgate Lane in West Simsbury around 3:45 p.m. on Saturday Dec. 7, 2013.

The Simsbury Police Department is working closely with surrounding police departments to apprehend the dog.  Please call your local police department if you see the dog and continue to use general caution.
