Paw Meadow Dog Park Volunteers Frustrated by Damage

Police said motor vehicle incident still an open case.

With Paw Meadow Dog Park being just about one year old, organizers are working to raise funds for an ambitious list of improvements, such as an improved water system, landscaping around the park and new surface material.

Due to those efforts and the fact that so many individual and small business donations made the park possible, volunteers are especially frustrated with the motor vehicle damage sustained to the small dog area fence and gate over the weekend, said Paw Meadow Dog Park committee member Nikki Perry.

"It's sort of like a slap in the face," she said.

The damage happened between the night of Friday June 14 and the morning of Saturday, June 15. Perry said any number of scenarios are possible but she just wishes someone would own up to the damage and pay restitution.

The committee has received one estimate of a little more than $1,100 for the repairs and is getting some others, she said.

Tuesday afternoon, police said it is considered a motor vehicle/evading incident and the investigation remains open.

Anyone with information is asked to call officer Jason Trombley of the Simsbury Police Department at (860) 658-3100.
