A Simsbury man has been charged with robbery and attempted assault in connection with a Friday afternoon incident in Canton.
Shortly before 2:30 p.m., Canton officers responded to the parking lot of Saybrook Fish House in Canton for reports of an accident involving a pedestrian and motor vehicle.
Members of an ambulance crew from the town of Canton Volunteer Fire and EMS Department transported one woman to St. Francis Hospital with non- life-threatening injuries, Canton police chief Christopher Arciero said Friday.
A short time later, officers located the suspect's vehicle near the Canton/Simsbury town line and without incident took a male allegedly involved into custody, police said.
Police have charged Colby Esthus, 22, of 358 Bushy Hill Road, Simsbury with criminal attempt to commit first-degree assault and first-degree robbery.
The incident remains under investigation and police have not released further details. Police are withholding the name of the victim.
