Heroes and Hounds drive will be held on Friday December 14, 2012.

Submitted by the Simsbury Police Department

The Simsbury Police Department is proud to host its third annual Heroes and Hounds Military Working Dog Drive.

This year we are proud to announce that the Simsbury Police Department will be shipping over one hundred and twenty individual care packages to our men and women actively serving our country overseas during the holiday season.

Each care package contains several items for the soldier and their K9 working partner. These packages will be transported to Westover Air Force Base by the Simsbury Police Department where they will be shipped to our soldiers in the Middle East.

This drive could not occur without the tremendous and generous support of the Town of Simsbury residents, business owners and Town employees.

We are glad to say that we also had great support from many residents and businesses in surrounding communities, such as the Windsor Pet Food Pantry, Fidelco, the Bass Family of Meriden, employees of CitiGroup (Hartford), Horses and Hounds and a generous monetary donation from a resident of New Jersey.

The Department would like to invite members of the media to police headquarters on Friday December 14, 2012 at 10:00 AM to help us honor and support our troops.
