Simsbury Volunteer Firefighter Completes Rescue Technician Course

A Simsbury volunteer firefighter has completed a special rescue technician training course.

Firefighter Jeff Holmes, Bushy Hill station, of the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company has completed a Connecticut Fire Academy course in Rescue Technician - Core that leads to NFPA 1006 Rescue Technician certification.

The 48-hour course is an introduction to rescue management, including rope-rescue equipment, lowering and hauling systems and maintaining rescue equipment. NFPA Rescue Technicians perform rope, surface water, vehicle, machinery, confined space, structural collapse and trench rescues.

Holmes joined the fire company as a cadet in 2004. He is state-certified as Firefighter I.
