Single Car Accident Slows Traffic on Rte. 10

A car that flipped over a guardrail on Hopmeadow Street has closed the southbound land of traffic.

Simsbury Police are investigating a single car accident on Hopmeadow Street near downtown Simsbury.

Shortly after 9 a.m. on Friday Simsbury police responded to the scene of a single-car accident during a rainy December morning. An SUV flipped over the guardrail on the northbound side of the road.

Emergency officials reported only one passenger in the vehicle. The woman was safely removed from the vehicle and is currently being treated for minor injuries.

Police do not know what caused the accident and said the incident is under investigation.

Traffic was closed to vehicles travelling south at the intersection of Hopmeadow Street and Woodland Place. Northbound traffic was moving slowly following the accident.

Probably hydroplaning(sp) there is a lot of water on the rds so people should drive slow. Glad everyone is okay.

Oily roads with a light coating of rain can be as slippery as ice. Those of us with four wheel drive vehicles should remember; 4 wheel drive = four wheel slide.
