Volunteer Firefighters Complete Rescue Training Courses

Two Simsbury volunteer firefighters have completed rescue training with the Connecticut Fire Academy.

Submitted by the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company

Two Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company officers, Randall Chesanek, Chief of Training, and Jay Dixon, Captain at Weatogue station, have completed two courses at the Connecticut Fire Academy. Machinery Rescue covered case histories and rescue operations for patients who are trapped in equipment such as industrial meat grinders and printing equipment.

Technical Extrication and the “Golden Hour” covered advanced rescue techniques for removing patients who may have multiple points of entrapment. Day two provided scenarios requiring extricating and packaging patients within an hour, a time frame considered important for administering prompt medical treatment.
