2010 U.S. Census Documents Released for Simsbury

A look at the government's numbers.

Data from the 2010 U.S. Census show that Simsbury's population remained remarkably stable over the last decade, increasing by just 277 residents.

The percentage of residents who identify themselves as white decreased from 95.3 percent to 92 percent. The African American population in town increased from 1.2 percent to 1.7 percent. In real numbers that's 271 residents in 2000 to 405 in 2010.

The Asian population grew from 2.1 percent — or 493 residents — to 3.7 percent — or 889 residents, and the number of Hispanic or Latino residents increased from 1.5 percent to 3.1 percent or 358 residents to 737.
