73% of Town Still Without Power; Shelter Moving to First Church on Sunday

A message from the Town of Simsbury.

This information has been provided by the Town of Simsbury:

1.      POWER RESTORATION UPDATE:  As of 11:00 a.m. 73% of CL&P customers in Simsbury still do not have power.  At a 10:00 a.m. meeting with Town officials, CL&P repeated its commitment to restore power to 99% of Simsbury customers by midnight Sunday.  CL&P reported that the company has deployed more than 40 crews to work on town roads today.

2.      RESIDENTIAL SERVICE LINES:  If you haven’t already done so, make sure you call CL&P to report any downed lines on or near your property.  The number to call is (860) 947-2000.  CL&P will reattach service on your property provided that there is no significant damage to the connection on your house.  Visit our Storm Information Center for more details and a wiring diagram (www.simbury-ct.gov).

3.      CHECK ON YOUR NEIGHBOR!:  We need to take care of each other!  Please visit your neighbors to make sure they’re okay.  If you have concerns about the health or safety of a neighbor, please contact the Police Department at (860) 658-3100.  If there is an emergency, please contact 911.

4.      EMERGENCY SHELTER TO TRANSTION TO FIRST CHURCH ON SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 2011:  At 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 6, 2011 the shelter which has been operating at Simsbury High School will cease operations.  Shelter will provided by the American Red Cross at First Church of Simsbury, 689 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury, CT (860) 651-3593.  Individuals at the High School shelter who continue to need assistance will be transported to First Church.  Our heartfelt thanks to all who have supported and continue to support shelter operations.
