A Message from First Selectman Mary Glassman

New updates from CL&P mean some people will be without power until Friday.

Dear Residents of Simsbury:

I was just informed by CL&P that work orders for every remaining street without power have been issued and are out on CL&P’s trucks. After reviewing CL&P’s action plan for the remaining power outages, I believe that residents can count on power to be restored by Thursday or Friday at the latest for those areas hardest hit by the storm. I think we all agree that these outages should have been corrected long ago. There are still 3,500 residents without power.

I can also report that starting last night and continuing throughout the day today, CL&P electricians are working to clear downed lines on bus routes to ensure that it is safe for children to return to school. CL&P representatives today are traveling the routes with bus drivers to make sure the routes are safe.

The Town shelter is still in operation at First Church of Simsbury, 689 Hopmeadow Street. The number of residents using the shelter is down significantly as power has been restored throughout the town. Until power is restored, we want to make sure that every resident has a warm place to sleep and the opportunity for a meal.

If power has been restored to your street but you do not have power, please call CL&P at 1-800-286-2000 to report your outage. If you have power, check on your neighbor. If power is still out in your neighborhood, CL&P is providing information about power restoration at the Simsbury Help Desk, which can be reached at 860-658-3279.

This has been an unprecedented crisis for the Town of Simsbury. In the midst of disaster, Simsbury residents have shown an incredible commitment to this community and to each other. Neighbors have been helping neighbors. I want to thank each and every one of you for reaching out to one another. We will get through this because of you.

Sincerely,

First Selectman Mary A. Glassman
