The Capitol Region Council of Governments recently elected officers for 2014. First Selectman Mary Glassman was re-elected chairperson. Two vice-chairs elected were Glastonbury Town Council Chair Chip Beckett and Hartford Mayor Pedro Segarra. Elected as Secretary was Canton First Selectman Richard Barlow and as Treasurer was East Hartford Mayor Marcia Leclerc.
“Working together, elected officials in the Capitol Region have instituted initiatives like shared purchasing that has saved towns millions of dollars. Online building permit programs in 20 towns mean faster more efficient service to residents and businesses. I look forward to continuing to work on important new initiatives in the upcoming year that will improve municipal efficiencies and save taxpayers money,” Glassman said.

CRCOG is a 30-town regional organization serving the Greater Hartford area and is responsible for the region’s transportation planning and a large number of regional cooperative initiatives including public safety.
