Grand List Rises Slightly, Remains Essentially Flat

The good news is that it didn't go down.

The 2010 Grand List is $2,599,971,710. The list is as of October 1, 2010. The list for October 1, 2009 was 2,599,461,854. That means the 2010 list has increased by $509,856.

The Grand List is the aggregate valuation of taxable property within a given town.

"The news could be worse," said First Selectman Mary Glassman at the board's meeting Monday night where selectmen reviewed the list.

She commented that the list has been relatively unchanged for the last four years, but during difficult economic times that is good news.

The break down is as follows: real estate has a value of 2,311,191,556; elderly home owners $20,227,242; motor vehicles $171,820,460; and personal property $96,732,452.
