Septemberfest is Back for Another Year

After a successful relaunch of the event last year, the event will continue.

Septemberfest will be back for another year — the weekend after Labor Day, Sept. 7-9.

The board of selectmen gave the go ahead to start planning the event to the performing arts center board at a special meeting between the two boards Monday night.

Also approved was the new manager contract. The manager of the remains Tom Vincent.

Last year there were two contracts, one for the 2011 season and another for Septemberfest. But with this contract, those are combined into one. Last year as payment for Septemberfest, the manager was awarded 50 percent of the net proceeds — after expenses were covered. This contract does not have that provision.

The contract, which runs for nine months from Jan. 25 through Oct. 15, has a base payment of $16,200 or $1,800 per month. Last year the base pay was $21,600 or $2,160 per month and was paid over 10 months.

Incentive payments in the contract include 20 percent of license fees, 20 percent of per ticket fees payable to Town of Simsbury, and 30 percent of ancillary revenues (excluding donations), but none of these fees are to be paid in the event that the Town of Simsbury’s expenses exceed its revenues.

The calendar is filling up at the facility, as the dates for the Hartford Symphony Orchestra’s 2012 Talcott Mountain Music Festival are as follows: June 20 and 21 are rehearsals with a performance on June 22 (rain date June 23), June 29 (rain date June 30), July 6 (rain date July 7), July 13 (rain date July 14) and July 20 (rain date July 21).
