Simsbury Among Towns To Receive Recycling Refund
The Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority will refund over $400,000 to 64 towns.
Simsbury is among the 64 towns that will receive some of the $400,000 the Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority is giving back in refunds this year.
The Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority is giving $5 for every qualifying ton of recycled material during the fiscal year ending on June 30, 2010 to towns that participated in the Mid-Connecticut Project.
East Granby had the highest increase in recycled tonnage in the state in 2010 with 474.73 tons, an 89 percent increase over the previous year. East Granby will receive $2,373.65.

Towns that participated in the Mid-Connecticut Project recycle 10.13 percent of each town's solid waste.
For the third straight year, West Hartford led the project by recycling 6,002.99 tons. All 64 towns combined recycled 83,856 tons of materials and 526 tons of recyclable electronics.

"Reducing trash and increasing recycling are the best ways to manage the state's solid waste problem, and we're delighted that our initiatives are making that happen," said Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority President Thomas D. Kirk.
