Simsbury Community Television Seeks Year End Support

Simsbury's non-profit community television station is seeking year-end charitable support.

Submitted by Tegan Blackburn, President of SCTV

There are many worthy non-profit organizations serving the town of Simsbury. Their missions include working on civic, educational and health issues, among others. Gifts from generous donors help make possible the important services these groups provide. Simsbury Community Television, Inc. (SCTV) is one these groups. SCTV has been a vital resource for Simsbury residents since 1984.

On Channel 95 SCTV provides coverage of multiple town boards and commissions, helping residents keep abreast of local government. On Channel 96 SCTV provides coverage of local school sports and academics, Board of Education meetings, and topics of learning value. On Channel 5 SCTV presents shows produced by Simsbury residents that vary from health and fitness to gardening and financial management. And of all this programming is viewable online as well at www.simsburytv.org.

Keeping Simsbury Informed; it’s more than just a slogan. SCTV’s core values include promoting civic engagement, education, public safety, free speech and a diversity of viewpoints. SCTV is not owned by, or affiliated with, the Town of Simsbury. It is a local 501(3)(c) non-profit with one full-time station manager and two part-time employees. Local residents and business owners form an independent governing board for SCTV.

SCTV would like to thank everyone who has supported the station, including the Boards of Selectmen and Education plus many local business owners and individuals.  We also thank our volunteers who make possible the programs SCTV airs every day. With the support of individual and business donations the station has been able to recently upgrade its broadcast capabilities and quality with state-of-the-art digital equipment.

Please consider making a contribution to SCTV this year.  Your 2012 donations are tax deductible. The tax code in 2013 may not be as favorable. Send donations to SCTV, PO Box 767, Simsbury CT, 06070 or donate online at www.simsburytv.org. If you prefer, come visit the station and get the grand tour while making your donation. SCTV is located in downtown Simsbury in the lower level of Eno Memorial Hall at 754 Hopmeadow Street.
