Simsbury Forms Economic Task Force

Simsbury Deputy First Selectman Nancy Haase has announced that an Economic Development Task Force (EDTF) was approved by the Board of Selectmen (BOS) on January 13th and recommended unanimously by the Economic Development Commission (EDC) at their January 9th meeting.

“I am pleased there was full support by both boards for this exciting and important initiative. Volunteers from the community in the fields of real estate/development and marketing are needed to work with town staff and boards/commissions, and members of the business community on the Task Force,” stated Deputy First Selectman Nancy Haase.

The EDTF will be appointed by the BOS and work in cooperation with the EDC. Bringing together a key group of decision makers to implement aspects of a recent marketing study and create an actionable business retention and expansion plan are among the goals of the Task Force.

The Town built community consensus through the town center charrette and new zoning regulations which it has begun to implement and is now studying The Hartford property. The Task Force will further these and other economic development efforts, implementing programs and marketing Simsbury to raise its positive economic development profile while working to grow Simsbury’s grand list. Opportunities will be available for residents to participate and provide input throughout the process.
