Simsbury Officials Urge Residents to Stay Off Roads During February Snow Storm

Town of Simsbury Snow Storm Update urges residents to get off the roads.

Town of Simsbury officials urge residents to get off the roads as soon as possible today in the face of predictions that the impending storm will dump up to two feet of snow in Central Connecticut. Blizzard conditions with the heaviest snow and wind gusts of up to 60 miles per hour are expected this evening into Saturday morning.  Town offices and the Simsbury Public Schools are closed for the day.

Town emergency response officials have activated the web emergency operations center which places the Town in direct contact with the State of Connecticut’s Emergency Operations Center. Local officials were briefed at 10 a.m. by Governor Dannel Malloy and will get another statewide update at 5:30 p.m.  The Town of Simsbury will provide another press update at 6:00 p.m.

In the meantime, the Town has activated all town equipment to keep roads clear and have local preparations underway to provide emergency shelter if necessary.  Residents in need of assistance may contact the Town emergency personnel at 860-658-3100. Residents should also be sure to contact Connecticut Light & Power at (800) 286-2000 to report power outages.
