Simsbury students will have one more day to enjoy the enormous amount of snow that was recently left at our doorsteps. Only it might get a bit soggy once a new storm system arrives.
Simsbury Public Schools will be closed on Monday February 11, 2012, according to Supt. Matthew Curtis.
Gov. Malloy requested that 'non-essential' state employees remain home on Monday to aid the clean up effort.
“Getting streets clear and making them safer for everyone is a priority, so I am asking nonessential state employees to stay home tomorrow,” Malloy said. “I understand that everyone wants to get back to normal as quickly as possible. Crews are working around the clock to accomplish that goal. But the last thing we need at this point is a typical morning rush hour commute. Traffic build-up will only delay the effort to clear our roads."
The town of Simsbury has not issued a statement about town employees as of 9 p.m Sunday night.
Malloy also requested that evening and midnight shift employees return to work Monday evening.
