Town of Simsbury to Observe Moment of Silence for Sandy Hook Shooting Victims

On Friday, Simsbury residents will share in the remembrance of 26 who lost their lives last week.

One week ago today, the lives of 26 Conn. residents were lost in the deadliest attack on an elementary school in the nation's history. Simsbury residents will join others across the state to remember the victims, children and adults, with a moment of silence.

"There are no words to convey the pain and sorrow that the Town of Simsbury community shares with the people of Newtown over the tragic loss of lives," First Selectman Mary Glassman said.

Residents, town staff, and town officials will gather at 9:30 a.m. on Friday at Simsbury Town Hall at 933 Hopmeadow Street to observe the moment of silence.

Gov. Dannel Malloy requested all Conn. residents remember the victims and that all churches ring their bells to honor the lives lost.

"We are also encouraging all Simsbury town residents to also observe a moment of silence at that time," Glassman said.

I wish that everyone would have paused their workout today at the Granby YMCA. A few people did not. Which did upset me. It was a 5 minute pause to reflect. I hope the 30 extra calories were worth it.
