On May 17, The Town of Simsbury is bringing these DECD programs directly to business owners when it hosts a small business informational session featuring Ronald F. Angelo, Jr., Deputy Commissioner of DECD, who oversees programs that target retention and expansion of in-state businesses as well as state and federal programs that focus on building stronger neighborhoods and communities.

"Small businesses are the heart of Simsbury’s downtown. This session is an outstanding opportunity for our local business owners to access technical assistance they need to keep and grow businesses in Simsbury," says First Selectman Mary Glassman.

Among the programs that will be highlighted include the Small Business Express Program, which supports access to capital and incentive loan and grants to create jobs. Small businesses employing not more than 50 employees are eligible for the programs.

The Department of Economic and Community Development is the state's lead agency for the development and implementation of policies, strategies and programs all of which are designed to enhance Connecticut's communities and business and housing environments. The event is being supported by the Town of Simsbury's Economic Development Commission and was coordinated by Selectman Lisa Heavner, EDC liaison, and Deputy First Selectman John K. Hampton.
