What's Open, What's Closed on Labor Day

Today is an official federal holiday.

September 5 is Labor Day. State and local government offices are closed and mail will not be delivered, but many businesses are open:

  • Simsbury Town Hall: closed
  • Simsbury Public Library: closed
  • Simsbury public schools: closed
  • Banks: closed
  • U.S. Post Offices: closed
  • State government offices: closed
  • State courts: closed
  • Liquor stores: closed
  • Supermarkets: most open
  • Retail stores: most open

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) has announced that admission to state parks and beaches will be free for the Labor Day weekend. Some parks and beaches, however, are still closed due to storm damage. A an updated list of open parks can be found at www.ct.gov/Irene.
