Kalechman Calls For Public Debate and Campaign Expenditure Limits

Robert Kalechman Running for the House of Representatives, 16th House District, Connecticut State House,

Robert Kalechman, the third Candidate Who Has Announced for the Endorsement of the Registered Voters of Simsbury to support and vote for him on Tuesday, November 6.  Now that the Republican and Democrats have had their dog and pony shows and have announced whotheir candidates will be,  though there will be little difference, if any, in the tax and spend policies that has been the history of taxing and spending of both the Republican and Democratic House of Representatives who have served in the past.  The voters are once again asked to support the Democratic or the Republican candidates in order that they can go to Hartford to do their political party's bidding and, in reality, will not represent the citizens of Simsbury.

It is time to get to the issues and to do away with the smoke and mirrors and come out from behind the curtains and debate the issues.  I challenge both my Democratic and Republican opponents to pledge to the citizens of Simsbury and Connecticut that their campaigns will not exceed One Thousand Dollars and that they will pledge and sign the State Elections Enforcement Commission's Form 1B.  This form indicates and certiifies that the candidates' will not exceed  One Thousand Dollars in campaign expenditures.

It has been the history of Simsbury in the previous elections that both the Republican and Democratic candidates have spent public tax dollars given to them by the State of Connecticut in order to run their campaigns.  Let me do the math and show you, the citizens of Simsbury and Connecticut, what the both political parties, both Democrats and Republians, received, past and present, including this coming election.  The past candidates, Linda Schofield and Gregory W. E. Piecuch, received approximately Twenty Six Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty Dollars plus both their respective town committees (Republican and Democratic), the committees may make organized expenditures.  It may encourage members to volunteer to serve for the candidate, joint expenditures up to the time that the candidate receives taxpayers' money.

The big questions regarding committees (Republian and Democratic Town Cimmittee) should not make conibutions and should not except money from candidates receiving taxpayers money and it cannot assist fundraising for the candidates wiithout the candidate's involvement.   The total cost for both candidates, Republican and Democratic, is Fifty Three Thousand Seven Hundred Dollars of taxpayers' dollars in order to solicit or ponder Simsbury's registered voters.  The cost per thousand is not only ridiculous but if both of these candidates are sincere in saving the paxpayers' dollars, the cost per thousand of Simsbury's voters is very, vey high and unacceptable to most ethical advertisers.  If my opponents, John Hampton, the Democrat, and Charity Folk, the Republican, is sincere, they will pledge and sign  an affidavit, B1 form.  Let them practice what they preach.

I offer the Town of Simsbury good, sincere and fair government.  And, not government for the well-to-do and well connected which my opponents are advocates of.
