Board of Education Approves Collective Bargaining Agreement

At its April 12 meeting the board unanimously approved a new three-year contract.

The board of education approved a new three-year contract with the custodial/maintenance bargaining unit at its meeting April 12.

The collective bargaining agreement between the Simsbury Board of Education and the National Association of Municipal Employees Local R1-260 takes effect July 1, 2010 and runs through June 30, 2013.

The agreement calls for a 1.5 percent general wage increase each of the years and a one-time payment of $250 in the first year.

Medical co-pay costs will increase from 15 percent to 16 percent during the three years and there will be increases to co-pays for brand name prescription drugs.

The number of sick days and holidays for new employees was also reduced.
