CREC Reggio Magnet School of the Arts Receives National Merit Award as a Magnet School of Distinction

Award will be presented during Magnet Schools of America Conference in May.

The CREC Reggio Magnet School of the Arts was selected by Magnet Schools of America for a Magnet School of Distinction Award. The national award is based on a commitment to high academic standards, curriculum innovation, successful diversity efforts and the consistent delivery of high quality education to students.

The CREC Reggio Magnet School of the Arts is located in Avon and Simsbury. The school serves 250 students from the capitol region in grades Pre-K3 through 2. Reggio, in operation since 2008, was chosen for the honor in a national search, based on criteria such as desegregation, innovative instructional strategies, student achievement and parent and community involvement.

“We are honored to receive this national recognition from Magnet Schools of America and are so pleased that the hard work of our students and educators is being recognized,” said Principal Josephine Di Pietro Smith. “Our students, parents and staff are all deeply committed to learning and strive daily to exemplify the goals of a CREC Magnet School.”
