Oct. 9, Central Elementary School and Squadron Line Elementary School preschoolers
from The Children’s Academy of Simsbury went to Brown’s Harvest in Windsor to
pick pumpkins, demonstrate their good behavior skills outside of class, and
enjoy a wonderful fall morning with the teachers and parents who accompanied
An old firetruck parked in the yard offered plenty of opportunities for hands-on exploration. The children took turns “driving” and enjoyed investigating the various dials, levers, and switches. During the hayride through the not-really-scary-but-pretend-scary “haunted” trail, smiles were wide as jack-o’-lantern grins, although the children had to sit very still for safety while on the wagon. One boy could not contain his excitement any longer, and burst out, “Mrs, Keating! This is SO COOL!” Children’s Academy Director Nikki Mahan laughed, remarking, “Well said, as only a preschooler can!”
The Children’s Academy of Simsbury believes that children learn through the active exploration of their environment. For more information, visit http://www.simsbury.k12.ct.us/childrensacademy.
