SHS Rugby Takes Home Second Win

The SHS boys team defeated Darien High School 17-15

Simsbury High School Rugby Club picked up its second win of the season with a nail biting 17-15 win over host Darien High School.    

The team rallied throughout the match and found itself down 10-7  at half time and 15-10 with 15 minutes to play in the final half. Led by a fantastic performance from Junior Matt Taylor Simsbury took the lead with only 4 minutes left to play with trys by Matt Taylor and Brian West.

Simsbury found itself tied at 15 as Matt Taylor lined up the 2 point conversation from the far sideline and into a wind. Taylor  hit the crucial kick to give Simsbury a 2 point lead and the team held on during a furious finish to come away with a 17-15 road win over Darien and move to a 2-1 season record and a tie for 3rd place in Division 1 at the halfway part of the season.   The team was also led by Captains Luke Bradley and Garrett Crowe and first year standout Brad Helmkamp. 

Simsbury Girls kickoff the season against the Southington Girls Thursday, April 12 at Simsbury High School starting at 5:30 p.m.  The Boys B/C team will follow with a game against the Division 2 Southington Boys team. Come watch the fastest growing game in America.
