Simsbury SAT Scores Up in Reading, Slightly Down in Math and Writing

Simsbury school officials are generally pleased with the SAT® data for the class of 2013.

Simsbury's 2013 scores were 571 in critical reading, 573 in math and 572 in writing. In 2012 those scores were 569 for critical reading, 579 in math and 574 in writing.

The average SAT scores for Connecticut public school students were 499 for critical reading 504 for writing and 503 for math.

Despite the slight dip in two categories, Matthew T. Curtis, Superintendent of Schools, said said they've been consistent over time and compared very well with school's in its Demographic Reference Group.

"Overall out scores are consistent with where they've been in the past and well above state averages and within the top 3 to 4 percent of districts within our reference group," he said.

Curtis also said the SAT is only one component that measures college readiness.

"Those area all things we look at and are pleased with but recognize that it's one data point," he said.
