Skating Combined with Helping Others = Fun

The Cobb School hosts a family event and collects food for the town's food pantry.

This week the hosted a Valentine's Free Family Skate at Simsbury Farms. This is an annual event, and the school rents the ice for Cobb's entire families — parents, older or younger siblings who attend other schools, etc.

The school encourages families to bring nonperishable food items for a donation, and the event collected four boxes of food for the Simsbury Food Pantry.

"Cobb believes very deeply in the spirit of giving," said Maureen Scudder, who does communications for the school. "We have a handful of outreach efforts, such as our recgular giving to our sister school — Yoezerling Primary School in Paro, Bhutan.  An important part of the Montessori philosophy is raising "good citizens," and guiding the students to be compassionate and generous is part of not only the Cobb School mission, but the Montessori missions as well."
