Honoring Jack Bannan: Simsbury Democrats donate to Turkey Trot in memory of beloved public servant and community activist

Jack Bannan was honored this week with a donation from the Simsbury Democratic Town Committee to the Jack Bannan Memorial Turkey Trot. Bannan, who passed away in July, was a Simsbury Hometown Hero, beloved teacher, WWII veteran, tireless community volunteer, five-term Selectman, and lifetime member of the Simsbury Democratic Town Committee. As founder of the Farmington Valley Turkey Trot, he inspired thousands of people to give to those in need, and countless people to volunteer in our community.

Members of the Simsbury Democratic Town Committee presented a $200 check to Jack's daughter Marianne, who continues her father's work to feed our region's hungry. The Simsbury Democratic Town Committee has previously donated to the Turkey Trot and Foodshare in honor of Bannan's commitment to the organization.
