Ad buys. Letters to the editor. Paid mailers. Lawn signs.... They're all part of running a local political campaign. Candidates have just a few weeks before Election Day to communicate with the public about their background, accomplishments, and plans for the future-- and mailers and lawn signs alone don't do the job.
That's where a good pair of running shoes enters the picture. When you hear a knock at your door on a sunny (or rainy, or snowy!) afternoon, it could be a candidate who is volunteering to serve the community as an elected official. Candidates will knock on thousands of doors before November 5 to share their vision for Simsbury.
Not home? You might find what is known as a "walk card" left behind at your door. It's not designed to be a full platform statement; It's an invitation to start a conversation about the issues that are important to you.
