Scare Tactics: Not What Simsbury Needs

The last thing Simsbury voters need in the days before an election is a misleading campaign flyer in the mailbox. Yesterday's piece from Nancy Haase would suggest that our mill rate is set by the Board of Selectmen. Not so. Here's a response from Simsbury DTC Chairwoman Amy McLean Salls:

Halloween is scary enough without scare tactics by Nancy Haase.

Responding to the flyer Ms. Haase sent out today-- It is a fact that the Board of Finance sets the mill rate, not the Board of Selectmen.  The Board of Finance has overtaxed Simsbury residents by intentionally underestimating collection rates and implementing an over zealous bond policy.

Since the Board of Selectmen budget is at the same level as 2008, is Nancy suggesting we dramatically cut the School budget? Nancy has just made a great case for change... at the Board of Finance.   It's time to vote for Linda Schofield and Jeff Tindall.

Sincerely,
Amy McLean Salls
