Support for Shannon Knall from Kathleen Schuster

Today's guest blogger is Kathleen Schuster. Kathleen and Shannon Knall have been friends for decades (and share a passion for tennis, see photo!). Here's why you should vote for Shannon on November 5... from someone who knows her best:

It is my pleasure to endorse Shannon Knall for Selectman in Simsbury.  In her current tenure as Selectman, Shannon has shown her commitment to our town and to all of our residents, from children to seniors and those with physical and intellectual disabilities.  She has effectively served as a member of the Economic Development Commission and is a strong supporter of responsible development to grow our tax base while preserving the beauty of Simsbury and its open spaces.  She currently serves as liaison to Simsbury’s Aging and Disability Commission, and was vocal in her opposition to Aquarion Water Company’s price increases that would have been detrimental to those living on fixed incomes, as well as our local businesses.  Shannon supports a fair, transparent government that will constantly strive to keep Simsbury one of the best communities in which to live and work in Connecticut.

Last May, in her effort to bring together and support women of all ages and walks of life, Shannon created and hosted the very successful, first annual Simsbury Woman’s Forum in conjunction with the Simsbury Junior Woman’s Club.   Every month Shannon hosts “The Simsbury Woman” where she interviews noteworthy women in our community.  Shannon is the Policy Chair for the Connecticut Chapter of Autism Speaks, and is responsible for significant law changes regarding insurance and other important issues for people with intellectual disabilities.  Shannon is also the founder and Executive Director of the Well-Served Tennis Academy which, every summer, provides tennis instruction to children throughout Connecticut with autism.

Shannon is passionate in her beliefs, dedicated to her causes, and one of the hardest workers I know.  She is the mother of three young boys, all of whom are in Simsbury schools, which makes education another of her top priorities.   I have known Shannon for twenty-eight years, so I know that she is a caring, compassionate, dedicated leader who will continue to work tirelessly for our town.  Please exercise your right to vote and support Shannon Knall this November.
