Patrick Driscoll receives Lt. Richard F. Kelleher Memorial Scholarship

Patrick Driscoll, Simsbury High School class of 2013, received the Lieutenant Richard F. Kelleher Memorial Scholarship given by the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company.  Driscoll is the son of Rich and Debbie Driscoll of Weatogue.

He is attending Merrimack College in North Andover, MA.  He is undecided on a major, but wants to be a firefighter when he graduates.

Driscoll was inducted into the National Honor Society in his junior year and was on the high school honor roll all four years.  He played ice hockey for four years and was on the varsity ice hockey team for two years, competing in the state finals in 2012.

Driscoll has been a junior firefighter in Simsbury since May, 2012.  Last year he was a part of the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company junior firefighter team that won Best Overall Performance in the Explorer & Junior Fire Fighter Muster & Challenge.  The challenge consisted of seven stations.  Driscoll competed in four of them and his team placed first in each of them.

The Kelleher scholarship was established in 1983 and is given annually in memory of the first Simsbury firefighter to die in the line of duty.
