Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company Members Earn Firefighter II Certification

Rick Callahan and Katie Tsitaritis, Firetown station, of the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company, have been certified as Firefighter II by the State of Connecticut. 

The 168-hour course covers 18 subjects, ranging from fire behavior to fire suppression, with extensive hands-on training at the Connecticut Fire Academy.  Students are also certified Hazardous Materials First Responder Operational, a training course for those who respond to hazardous materials incidents.
