On Thursday, August 23 The Simsbury-Granby Rotary heard from students from Simsbury High. Margaret House, Conor Lyman, Maggie Willerup and Taylor Willerup are promoting the Martin Luther King Memorial.

When MLK was 15 years old he found a summer job picking tobacco in Simsbury to raise money for his tuition. In his letters he remembered his stay in the area as a great experience.

The SHS teenagers are trying to raise money for a special memorial for MLK that is going to be situated on the corner of Phelps Rd and Hopmeadow, opposite the Methodist Church/Maple Tree Cafe.

The memorials' cost is estimated at $200,000. Thank you to Cigna for already contributing a couple of thousand dollars.
