Over $20,000 in Local Scholarships Awarded!

It is with great pleasure that the Simsbury-Granby Rotary club announces the 2013 recipients of its annual academic scholarships.  

This year, five academic scholarships were awarded to graduating seniors from Simsbury and Granby High Schools.  Students applying complete an application and then must schedule an interview with the scholarship committee.  The total of this year’s academic scholarships was $22,000.00.  To date, over $250,000 in scholarships have been awarded.

Kate Rogers and Claire Keating, both from Simsbury each received a $4,000.00 Rotary Scholarship. Matthew O'Neil and Meredith Hauer, both of Granby each received a $4,000.00 Rotary Scholarship.  Jared Hall from Granby received a $6,000.00 Ed Dodge Scholarship.

The “Simsbury River Run” road race, the Simsbury-Granby Rotary golf tournament and the “International Harvest” Wine Tasting are three of the events organized and run by the Rotary club that fund the scholarship program which also supports humanitarian efforts locally and around the world.

This Years' Wine Tasting - "Simsbury-Granby Rotary International Harvest" will be held Thursday, October 3rd at Tower Ridge Country Club in Simsbury. All proceeds will go towards 2014 scholarships and the yearly maintenance of Rotary Park on Ironhorse Boulevard.
