Simsbury-Granby Rotary to give $27,000 in 2014 Scholarships

The Simsbury-Granby Rotary Club is pleased to announce $27,000 in academic scholarships for 2014! 

The Simsbury-Granby Rotary Club will award four $4,000 ROTARY SCHOLARSHIPS, one $7,000 ED DODGE SCHOLARSHIP, and one $4,000 VOCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP – two $4,000 scholarships to two graduating seniors from Simsbury High School, two $4,000 scholarships to two graduating seniors from Granby High School, one $7000 scholarship to a qualified student from either Simsbury or Granby High School, and one $4,000 vocational scholarship to a qualified student from either Simsbury or Granby High School. 

To be eligible for a ROTARY SCHOLARSHIP or the ED DODGE SCHOLARSHIP, the student must have been accepted into a four-year, degree-granting program at an accredited college or university or a two-year program at an accredited junior college at the time of the award. The student should also demonstrate a need for financial assistance to further his or her continuing education.

To be eligible for a VOCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP, the student must have been accepted into a program at a vocational school or community college and must demonstrate his or her inability to pay the full cost of the educational program.

Candidates for a SCHOLARSHIP will complete a comprehensive application that will confirm their eligibility qualifications, demonstrates the need for financial assistance and articulates the candidate’s qualifications, discusses his or her educational and career goals and describes why he or she should receive this scholarship. Candidates may be interviewed by the Scholarship Committee of the Simsbury-Granby Rotary Club and awards will be presented to winning candidates at a regular meeting of the Club.
