Dominance on the Hoops Hardwood Plus a Bounce Back Performance on the Mat
Simsbury sports digest for Dec. 23, 2011
After dropping their first 2 games of the season, the Simsbury girls basketball team has turned their season around — completely — winning their last 4 games, including a 46-36 triumph against East Hartford last night.
Sophomore sensation Allie Davis had a huge game with 12 points and 11 rebounds. As well as Davis has played, scoring in double figures in their last 3 games, head coach Jessica Baker said, "Every member of this team is doing their part to help us improve and be successful."
Senior co-captains Amanda Beland and Taylor Perry also provided offense, pouring in 10 and 9 points respectively. Junior Kelsey Moon had a strong game as well with 8 points and 11 rebounds. Earlier this week Simsbury knocked off Conard 42-37 in West Hartford and last Friday they outlasted Platt in overtime. What a difference a year makes. Last year at this time the Trojans (4-2) were 2-4. Simsbury is off until Wednesday when they battle Maloney at 7 p.m. in Meriden.
