65th Anniversary of Hill-Stead Museum's Opening Day

Celebrate this momentous occasion with 50¢ admission (the fee charged on opening day, April 16, 1947), self-guided tours, and the presence of local luminaries to share in the festivities.
The April 17, 1947 edition of The Hartford Courant reported that "Despite the rainy day, more than 35 persons visited the museum (April 16)" to see "the home, still furnished as it was while Mrs. Theodate Pope Riddle lived there with many priceless works of art, period furniture, and a great variety of other articles."
