National Bike Month Kickoff

Today Simsbury will kick off its celebration of National Bike Month.

At 10 a.m., organizers and town officials will gather at Simsbury Town Hall to make it official.

Here's the agenda:

1.     Ann Marie Potter, Bike Walk Simsbury

-       Welcome & Overview

2.    Mary Glassman, First Selectman

-       Announce Simsbury’s Bike-Month initiatives during May

3.     Diane Ullman, Simsbury Superintendent of Schools

-       Discuss new 4th grade bike-education program and other school bicycle initiatives

4.    Tom Roy, Simsbury Director of Public Works

-       Announce new sharrows/signage and bike lane

5.    Martin Geitz, President/CEO of Simsbury Bank

-       Announce new bike racks at Simsbury Bank

6.    Jan Losee, General Manger of The Simsbury Inn

-       Announce Simsbury Inn as new bike-share center for customers

7.    Bill Selig, Bill Selig Jewelers

-       Describe one-of-a-kind Bike Sculpture Necklace available in May

8.    P.J. Gronski, Manager of The Bicycle Cellar

-       Discuss schedule of free, guided bicycle ride
