The Simsbury 9-10 Softball Team won the District 6 Championship with an 8-3 victory over Canton Saturday.
The team was 4-0 in pool play prior to Saturday and now moves on to the sectionals next week.
"I couldn't be more proud of this group of girls," manager Trish Witkin said. "They worked hard, were focused and supportive of each other."
Despite their loss Canton manager Karen Tessman was also proud of her team. The team played hard and stayed positive despite facing a good team with great pitching, Tessman said.
"We really fought hard and stuck to our game plan," she said. "I'm just proud of them all the way around."
