Simsbury Sports Digest for April 15

A much-needed homecoming for one high school team, while another looks for its first win today.

After starting the season with two straight losses on the road, the boys lacrosse team was happy to play their next game at home. The Trojans welcomed in South Windsor on Monday. Simsbury tamed the Bobcats 12-2 to up their record to 1-2 on the young season. Next up is Daniel Hand High School in Madison Saturday at 12:30 p.m. It will be their first league game of the year.

The girls meanwhile dominated Berlin 13-1 at on Wednesday to improve their record to 2-1. More importantly it was their second league win against no losses. The Trojans will travel to Hand today for a 6:30 p.m. face-off.

The baseball team lost for the first time this season, 4-3 to Southington Thursday. Starting catcher for the Trojans (3-1) Dylan Sullivan was forced to leave in the first inning with an injury. His replacement Andrew Girard went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Jordan Radin continued his hot bat, going 2 for 4 with another double, while Connor Martinez went 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Starting pitcher Matt Quintana pitched well, holding the Blue Knights to four hits through 5 innings. Next up is local rival Avon today at 3:45 p.m. in Avon.

The softball team is still looking for win number one this season, as they fell to Southington Wednesday 10-0. Today the Trojans visit Bristol Eastern for a 3:45 p.m. first pitch as they try to get off the schnide.

The boys' and girls' tennis teams are in action on the road. The boys visit Longmeadow while the girls travel to Hand. Both matches start at 3:45 p.m.
