The boys basketball team has saved its best for last. The Trojans made it 3 in a row with a 47-43 win over Hall at home, lifting them to 8-8 on the season and locking up a spot in the state tournament. It was not easy though as Simsbury trailed by 13 in the early going and 27-17 at the half. But a strong defensive effort held Hall to just 16 2nd half points and only 2 field goals. Karon Beckford led the way for the Trojans with 18 points including a 3 point play with less than a minute to go to give them a lead they would not relinquish. Jeff Smith also had a good game including setting up Beckford for the go ahead basket on a pick and roll play.
The girls (5-13) did not fare as well as they lost to hall 66-39. The game was close in the first half as Simsbury trailed by just 2 late in the 2nd quarter. High scorer was Lauren Stumper with 15 points.
